A sway bar you can switch off
On tarmac the sway bar saves lives; on rock it takes away half the suspension travel. APEX has three different answers to that, and it is worth knowing how they differ before choosing.
autoLYNX — disconnect with a knob
A patented design where disconnecting takes as long as turning a knob. Fits Wranglers from 2007 to 2026 and Gladiators from 2020. Two lengths: 8 inches for stock trucks and lifts up to 2 inches, 10.5 inches for 2.5 to 5 inch lifts.
Note: The 10.5-inch version requires at least 2-inch bump stop extensions fitted at the front first. Both versions need the inner fender liner trimmed. Owners of 2018–2025 Sahara, Sport and Willys models should check the manufacturer's fitment guide before buying.
airLYNX — variable rate on air pressure
Rather than disconnecting, airLYNX changes the rate. Set anything from zero to three hundred PSI and you move the characteristic from factory to trail. On a three-quarter ton truck the side effect is that it stops bucking over washboard.
kwikLYNX — Toyota and Lexus
The same idea as autoLYNX, for the 4Runner from 2003 to 2024, Tacoma 2005 to 2023, FJ Cruiser from 2007 and the GX470 and GX460. Choose M14x1.5 or M14x2.0 thread for ICON Delta joints — the right one has to be picked when ordering.
Note: Not compatible with KDSS. On a GX460 it can be adapted, but only by removing KDSS and fitting a regular GX470 or 4Runner sway bar.
Common questions
autoLYNX or airLYNX — which one?
autoLYNX disconnects the bar completely: turn the knob and the axle articulates freely. airLYNX disconnects nothing — it changes the rate with air pressure, so you always keep some control. For hard rock work autoLYNX is better; for a truck that lives on tarmac and occasionally leaves it, airLYNX is more convenient.
Does autoLYNX need modifications?
One: the inner fender liner has to be trimmed to clear the mechanism. The manufacturer publishes a guide for it. Otherwise it is an end link swap — M12x1.25 nut at the top, M12x1.5 × 70 mm bolt at the bottom.
I run a 3-inch lift — which autoLYNX length?
The 10.5-inch version, made for 2.5 to 5 inch lifts. It requires at least 2-inch bump stop extensions fitted at the front first. A stock truck or one with up to 2 inches of lift takes the 8-inch version.
Does kwikLYNX fit a KDSS Toyota?
No, and this is the important caveat. On a GX460 it can be adapted, but only after removing the factory KDSS system and fitting a regular GX470 or 4Runner sway bar. If you have KDSS and intend to keep it, kwikLYNX is not an option.
