Steering on the JL and JT
The electric pump in the Wrangler JL and Gladiator JT was sized for factory tyres. Fit thirty-sevens and a heavier bumper and it runs short of both force and cooling at the same time. APEX addresses both.
STEERING BOOST — more force from the factory pump
The kit retunes the factory blow-off valve and raises working pressure, adding roughly forty per cent more force. It fits every JL and JT engine: 2.0, 3.6, 392 and diesel.
Note: The kit must not be run without a cooler. Higher pressure means more heat, and factory cooling was marginal before the change. Buying the kit alone makes you responsible for sourcing and fitting a compatible cooler.
Power steering cooler
The answer to intermittent steering dropout when the fluid gets hot — the classic symptom after prolonged manoeuvring on large tyres. More fluid volume and more surface area keep the system in a sensible range. It mounts almost anywhere.
TSR — through shaft ram
A ram with a shaft running right through, sized so the factory electric pump keeps up with the flow demand. That removes the lag usually associated with added hydraulics. Available with or without the port kit.
Note: Fits the wide M210 / Dana 44 front axle from Rubicon and XR models only. It does not fit the narrow axle in Sport, Sahara and non-XR Willys.
Common questions
Can the BOOST kit be fitted without the cooler?
No. That is a condition, not a recommendation. The kit raises pressure by forty per cent and more pressure means more heat, while factory cooling on the JL and JT was marginal before the change. Buying the kit alone means taking on the job of sourcing and fitting a compatible cooler.
Which engines does BOOST fit?
Every Wrangler JL and Gladiator JT variant: 2.0, 3.6, 392 and diesel. The kit works with the factory electric pump by retuning the blow-off valve.
Why does the steering go heavy in the cold?
Cold fluid is more viscous and the factory system on the JL and JT has no headroom to make up for it. The result is a steering wheel that goes briefly heavy on a frosty morning. Raising the pressure removes the symptom.
Does the TSR fit every JL?
No. The TSR needs the wide M210 front axle from the Rubicon and XR models. It does not fit the narrow axle used in Sport, Sahara and non-XR Willys. Check the axle before ordering — this is the most common mistake with this product.
